Everyone knows that the wind blows everywhere for free - more in some places than others - without any human effort. But harnessing the power of the wind to generate electricity is a complex and expensive business. Nevertheless wind has an important and increasing role to play in providing low cost, 100% "green" energy in the UK.
It can also be possible for companies, local authorities, farmers, hospitals - in theory anyone - to have access to a wind turbine installed on their land at no cost whatsoever to plan, install and maintain and so benefit from long term, low cost, carbon free energy. You could even get an income from selling the electricity back to the grid!
Not every site is suitable for installation of wind turbines, and not every suitable site will meet the criteria for a fully funded turbine.
