The last Labour Government proposed to introduce "clean energy cashback" payments from April 2011 to individuals, businesses and communities for generation of heat from renewable sources.
This Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) would complement the Feed-in Tariffs (FiTs) that became effective on 1 April 2010 for the onsite generation of electricity.
Eligible RHI technologies would include heat pumps (ground, air & water sourced); solar thermal for water heating and biofuels.
The Coalition Government will be reviewing the last Government's consultation response and will announce their intentions on the RHI in due course.
